Medicare's "Better Access to Mental Health" initiative provides the best psychology rebates for clients who have some mental health concerns. For example, anxiety, depressed mood, unhelpful thoughts. If you and/or your child has a Mental Health Care Plan, you can access Medicare rebates for six individual psychology sessions. A referral is needed from your General Practitioner.

Medicare's Chronic Disease Management (Enhanced Primary Care) initiative provides rebates for clients who may require assessments from an array of Allied Health Professionals, including Psychologist, Speech Pathologist & Occupational Therapist, based on more complex needs. You can access Medicare rebates for five individual sessions. A referral is needed from your General Practitioner. 

Helping Children with Autism Medicare Initiative provides rebates for four sessions with a psychologist for the purposes of Autism Assessments. A referral is needed from a paediatrician or a child psychiatrist. 

Helping Children with Autism Medicare Initiative provides 20 treatment sessions from Allied Health Professionals for children with a confirmed diagnosis of Autism by the age of 13 years by a Paediatrician or Psychiatrist, to be used before the child turns 15 years. 

FaHCSIA funded Early Intervention Services under the "Helping Children with Autism" and the "Better Start for the Children with Disabilities" initiatives and offers support for your child, if under the age of 6 years, and already has a confirmed diagnosis of Autism. May be eligible for up to a total of $12,000 (maximum $6,000 per year).
